A Blow By Blow Account Of Music One.
Saturday 8th January 2000 at One Minute Past Midnight the Music One Transmitter is turned on. The First song to be broadcast is DJ Jean - The Launch
Keith Greenwood presents the first mornings Breakfast Show which is closely followed by the Official Music One "Lift Off" Show hosted by Phil & Ben with guests Mayor Cllr Jerry Roudhouse and the Honourable Lady Mayoress of Rugby. The show goes without hitch until its discovered that Ben has blocked the official limousine in!!
Tom follows the Official Launch Show with a one off show called the "Tasty Bit" and he is followed by Rachel Brewster who's guests are local band "Mesch". Normal Saturday programmes then commence.
Sunday 9th January Wayne Pithie a Scout Leader with Rugby Scouts joins Paul Madeley in the studio.
Monday 10th January Mike Allen and Amy Walker from the Rugby Theatre join Richard Green at Drivetime. In the evening Nathan Pestridge starts his "Evening Choice" programme which features the Love Session.
Tuesday 11th Pauline Rainbow from the Myton Hospice Appeal joins Richard Green in the "Hot Seat"
Wednesday 12th Kate Brindley from Rugby Art Museum and Art Gallery joins Richard Green in the "Hot Seat"
Thursday 13th Barry Matthews from the Rugby Ramblers Association is Richard Green's guest.
Friday 14th Ish Mistry, the Chairman of The Rugby Indian Association is a guest on Drivetime with Richard.
The weekend of 15th & 16th normal programmes go without hitch.
Monday 17th Adrian Bunyard from Brownsover Football Club is the days "Hot Seat" guest.
Tuesday 18th James Berryman local musician joins Richard Green and plays live in the studio.
Wednesday 19th Reg Grubb from 1st Brinklow Jazz Club joins Richard at Drivetime.
Thursday 20th Tracey Garratt from Rugby Lions is quizzed as she takes to the Drivetime "Hot Seat".
Friday 21st Glyn Jones and Dave Glover from Rugby Sea Cadets join Richard at Drivetime.
Weekend of 22nd and 23rd January everything runs to plan.
Monday 24th Alan Atkins from Rugby Wildlife Trust is quizzed in the Drivetime "Hot Seat"
Tuesday 25th Wendy Parry from Rugby Museum joins Richard Green for the afternoon.
Wednesday 26th local band "Little Johnny England" join Phil & Ben to play live in the studio.
Thursday 27th Nick Reynolds Crime Prevention Officer with Rugby Police joins Richard at Drivetime.
Friday 28th local band "Afterglow" play live in the studio during the Phil & Ben show 9-11pm
Saturday 29th everything goes well.
Sunday 30th the Request Show with Amrit Raj is extended for an hour due to the number of calls. Ish Mistry of the Rugby Indian Association returns to talk to Paul Madeley.
Monday 31st January local band "Deep Sea Divers" play live in the studio during the Phil & Ben show.
Tuesday 1st February local band "Visitation" join Phil & Ben to play live in the Music One studio.
Wednesday 2nd local band "My Darling Ni-Hilist" play live in the studio with Phil & Ben.
Thursday 3rd local band "Sancho" play live in the Music One studio on the Phil & Ben show.
Friday 4th Rugby MP Andy King joins Richard Green in the "Hot Seat"
After the Phil & Ben show ends at 11pm a special show goes through till midnight, presented by Keith and Tom with many of the stations presenters dropping by before the trial broadcast comes to an end.
At midnight on 4th February 2000 Music One broadcasting on 87.8FM comes to an end.
